The Priest-in-Charge
The Rev. Dr. G. Wayne Short
Dr. Short brings to Christ Church over 30 years of
ministry experience
serving in four
parishes in
Newfoundland and
Labrador, one on
Vancouver Island and
another in Northern
Ontario. He is a
graduate of Memorial
University of
Newfoundland and did
his ordination studies
at Huron College at
UWO in London,
Ontario.
In 1993 he completed his Doctorate of Ministry in
psychology and clinical studies at Andover Newton
Theological College, near Boston Massachusetts. In
addition to his doctorate he completed a year internship
in pastoral psychotherapy.
Rev. Dr. Short serves as Priest-in-Charge giving
leadership to Christ Church and providing pastoral
services. He is married to Sheila Marchant-Short who
works as a Clinical Leader in Public Health in
Charlottetown. They have one son Peter who will begin
his final year of Law School this fall. They are proud
owners of two Bernese Mountain Dogs.
In addition to his duties at Christ Church Dr. Short has a
new counselling practice in Charlottetown called
Enriched Counselling Services.
Our Lay Readers
Samantha Ludwick
Samatha Lutwick has been a Diocesan Lay Reader
for eight years. Her home parish is the Parish of
Milton, Rustico, Georgetown and St. Peter's
Cathedral. She regularly officiates at St. John's in
Milton, St. Mark's in Rustico and Christ Church
Cherry Valley. Samantha is also involved in
fundraising, a Prayer Chain and Choir. She is also
enjoys their House Church Band. Parishioners at
Christ Church Cherry Valley enjoys how she weaves
her personal life experiences into her messages and
are very appreciative of her ministry with them.
Don Himelman
Don Himelman has been a
Diocesan Lay Reader since
November of 2000, licensed by
Bishop Arthur Peters. Don's Home
parish is Christ Church Cherry
Valley. Don officiates at service at
Christ Church, Cherry Valley; Holy
Trinity, Georgetown; St. Albans,
Souris; and St. George's,
Montague. In past years, he has
taken service at St. Mark's, South
Rustico; St. John's, Milton and St.
John the Evangelist, Crapaud. Don
currently serves on the Parish
Council at Christ Church and
represents the parish on the
Diocesan Church Society where he
is also the Lay Vice Chair of the
Diocesan Church Society. He
serves as the island
representative of the Lay
Readers Association of Nova Scotia
and Prince Edward Island. Don is
also the Secretary-Treasurer of
the Cross Roads Rural Community
Fire Company. Don brings to his
ministry a wide range of church
involvements and activities.
Parishioners are very appreciative
of his ministry.
